History

The Showering brothers had a small brewery, mineral water and cider making business in Shepton Mallet. This same site is still home to Babycham today. In the 40’s they were very successful with a drink they developed using perry pears.

In the 50’s they began bottling it in it’s trademark “baby” bottles and after winning all the local tasting competitions people began calling it the “Baby Champ”.

In 1953 it was launched nationally as Babycham and it became an instant sensation. It was around this same time that the deer image was introduced to convey it’s light and sparkling nature.

In 1957, Babycham became the first ever alcoholic drinks brand (the second brand ever) to be advertised on commercial television in the UK. For over fifty years Babycham has remained an extremely popular brand.
